Facebook no longer auto-redirect user to standard Facebook page

Recently, Facebook has removed the Application Profile page.

To help developers and app owners for the migration, Facebook has provided you with a migration tool.  With this tool, we can migrate the “Likes”.  Besides, after performing the migration, when users access your Application Profile page, they will be redirected to the Facebook page. This is nice.

However, the auto-redirection is no longer working in the earlier way.  Now, when user access your application profile page, they will be redirected to the application canvas.

As a result, in case you are having link like “About this application” in your canvas area that earlier linked to the application profile page, it will now simple redirecting the user back to the same location.

The “fix” is of course easy, simply change the link so that it links to your Facebook Fan page directly.

  1. Lautaro says:

Very simple if you have 2 apps
If you have many and use reflection it is a headache
and since there’s no open graph link from application object you have no automated way to correct this link
