Defintely Stackoverflow does not like people providing info via external link….
Today, I found that my reputation was cut down by 200 simply because a moderator (with just 500 reputation!) there edited “many” of my posts that get links to external source with reason “rmv spam”…. What is the meaning of SPAM?? Those links are valid references that contains valuable information!!!
I know that according to http://facebook.stackoverflow.com/questions/how-to-answer,
Provide context for links
A link to a potential solution is always welcome, but please add context around the link so your fellow users will have some idea what it is and why it’s there . Always quote the most relevant part of an important link, in case the target site is unreachable or goes permanently offline.”
That may be important for answers on other platform. But Facebook is a fast evolving platform (and this is actually one of the problems that Facebook dev related sites are facing). The information that we quoted today is very likely to be outdated next week, or next month. So, one of the best way is to tell the readers where to look up the info from FB doc.
I am seriously considering to stop providing any help on stackoverflow. So in case you get questions that want me to take a look at, post that in the fb-developers.info forum.
